Ciao readers!<\/em><\/p>

Over this past week I\u2019ve had the chance to learn more about what true Italian cuisine is like<\/strong> and try it all for myself with the company of some amazing friends!\u00a0<\/p>

It started off with the Saporitissimo Sorrento Street Food<\/em> <\/strong>event at Villa Comunale<\/strong> “Salve D\u2019Esposito”.<\/p>

This was a 5 day long event<\/strong> consisting of various local businesses, Neapolitan specialties<\/strong>, music, entertainment<\/strong>, desserts<\/strong> and good vibes.\u00a0<\/p>

The whole event went from September 13 – September 17. I went<\/strong> on the 15th with a group of friends from Sant\u2019Anna and we all had so much fun<\/strong> trying out the different foods together.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A Feast for the Senses<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

We started out by just scoping out the area and seeing what all was being offered.<\/p>

There were a lot of Sicilian desserts<\/strong>, quite a few that I had never heard of before, but they all looked delicious.\u00a0<\/p>

Besides all of the appealing food that awaited us, there was also an entertainment area that we checked out.\u00a0<\/p>

Each day of the event there was a new performer\/act. On the day that we went we saw the band \u201cAllerija\u201d.<\/p>

There was also some sort of magic show happening before the music started and kids gathered around to watch tricks with fire. I<\/p>

t was such a precious moment seeing people of all ages come together and enjoy their evening even if they were all there for different reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The first thing we tried was a Sfogliata Riccia<\/em><\/strong>, what is pictured in the top left image.<\/p>

From the outside look of it, I thought it would have chocolate in it, but it was ricotta cheese. It was something I\u2019ve never had before but I would definitely recommend it<\/strong>, 10\/10!<\/p>

The picture to the right of the Sfogliata Riccia<\/em> was different types of “Arancini<\/em><\/strong>” from “Sapori Di Palermo<\/em>“.<\/p>

I didn\u2019t know there were so many different combinations!\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

At the same place there were lots and lots of Sicilian desserts<\/strong>, including Cannoli<\/strong><\/em> which a few of my friends got and tried!<\/p>

They adored them which wasn\u2019t surprising.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Something very interesting to me was seeing the \u201cHanging Caciocavallo Cheese<\/em><\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>

I did not expect it to actually be hanging upside down in the air. It\u2019s extremely popular in Southern Italy<\/strong> and it\u2019s also one of the oldest cheeses!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The next thing I tried was a Pizza Fritta<\/strong><\/em> (fried pizza) from Pizzeria Bella Napoli<\/i>.<\/p>

I watched it be prepared and fried right in front of me<\/strong> and got to see it from start to finish.<\/p>

After being in Sorrento for a few weeks now, I thought I had tasted the most authentic pizza from Naples<\/strong>, but I don\u2019t think I truly did until I had this!<\/p>

I\u2019d also recommend this to everyone, but I think I\u2019d recommend just about anything here because it was all too good!\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

While I ate my pizza fritta, my friends all tried different foods from Sud Eat Napulitan Food<\/em><\/strong>, which is all in the picture above!<\/p>

This place was intriguing because of its menu<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>

The numbers for the food meals<\/strong> at this place were all numbers from<\/strong> Tombola<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>

Tombola<\/em> is a Neapolitan game similar to bingo, commonly played on Christmas.<\/p>

The board of the game is made up of numbers 1-90<\/strong>.<\/p>

Each number<\/strong> is in its own box and has its own \u201cNeapolitan Smorfia<\/em>\u201d which is a symbol or character<\/strong>.<\/p>

There\u2019s a short list of the most popular Tombola numbers and they are easily recognizable if you are familiar with the game.<\/p>
