The trees that line the sidewalks and the gardens on balconies add to the peninsula\u2019s aesthetic<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

It is a gorgeous place that plant lovers like myself, love to see!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

However, on this peninsula, a park hides in the middle of Sant’Agnello<\/strong>, a small city close to Sorrento.<\/span><\/p>

This park is the “Oasi in Citt\u00e0<\/strong><\/em>” (Oasis in the City<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>

This place is home to around 6,000 plants and 70 tree species<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

Almost all these plants are native to the peninsula. The park is on a 4,000-square-meter plot of land over an underground parking garage<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0The plants and few animals thrive in this environment and are constantly tended to. <\/span><\/p>

It is a peaceful place<\/strong> where anyone can sit and enjoy nature.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A leaf tunnel at the entrance of this peaceful place sparks my and others\u2019 curiosity to explore it. <\/span><\/p>

All outside sounds fade<\/strong> as the garden transports its guests. <\/span><\/p>

This world has the sounds of birds chirping and lizards scurrying along the ground<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

I have never been in such a bright green place before. But it has splashes of purples, pinks, yellows, and oranges.<\/span><\/p>

After taking in the bright greenery, I notice a sign with a map on it. <\/span><\/p>

T<\/strong>he map divides the park into<\/b> numbered sections from one to seventeen. <\/span>These seventeen locations<\/strong> make up the entirety of the park.<\/span><\/p>

Exploring these locations is a pleasant stroll<\/strong> on gravel paths. <\/span>The path forks and winds around my feet as I explore. <\/span><\/p>

Sometimes, I end up off the main paths to see more of the park.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

However, scattered along these paths are sitting areas<\/strong>. <\/span>Guests can sit and soak in the tranquility of this place. <\/span><\/p>

All of them have a scenic view covered in green<\/strong>. However, bugs do not take too kindly to people sitting, so it is important to remember to bring bug spray!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Despite the bugs, the main feature of this park is a beautiful pond with fish in it<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

This pond is home to lilypads<\/strong>, water lotus<\/strong>, algae, and many other plants. <\/span><\/p>

It showcases the different plants that are native and not native to Italy<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

The rest of the park is a testament to this. There is a combination of native and non-native plant species marked by signs.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

These signs also give insightful facts to guests<\/strong> who have come to explore the park. <\/span><\/p>

The signs have a small panda bear with a WWF logo<\/strong> at the bottom. <\/span><\/p>

It leaves everyone wondering what it is and who created this place.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Who Created the \"Oasi in Citt\u00e0\"?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A quick Google search shows that the panda logo with WWF marks the brand of the World Wildlife Fund<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

The WWF helps local communities conserve the natural resources they depend on<\/strong>, transform policies toward sustainability, and protect and restore species and their habitats<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

However, there is more to it than the WWF.<\/span><\/p>

The creators of this<\/strong> tranquil park are the local government and the World Wildlife Fund\u2019s Italian Chapter<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Furthermore, this park is one of many in a campaign<\/strong> by the Italian Chapter called<\/strong> “ReNature Italy<\/em><\/strong>“.<\/span><\/p>

ReNature Italy aims to restore and protect fragmented or destroyed habitats and species<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

The campaign aims to do this in 1 million square meters around Italy. <\/span><\/p>

“Oasi in Citt\u00e0<\/em><\/strong>” is one of these restored<\/strong> and protected habitats<\/strong>. However, this project is between protecting and restoring.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Protection works to protect and improve established habitats. <\/span><\/p>

Additionally, the protection\u2019s goal is to contribute to the preservation of 30% of land and sea areas by 2023<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

The restoration side aims to restore destroyed and fragmented habitats. In addition, the main goal of restoration is to re-establish at least 15% of Italian territory and share 10% of agricultural land with nature.<\/span><\/p>

The ReNature Italy campaign has started a delicate process of creating more protected habitats<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

However, the WWF Italy Chapter is not alone<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Procter and Gamble and Etifor joined this initiative by spreading awareness<\/strong> and retrieving certificates for WWF Italy to continue its work.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

As I leave the park, a part of me knows I will always miss the beauty of this place. <\/span><\/p>

The ReNature Italy campaign is a step to help these habitats and species thrive.<\/span><\/p>

Currently, there is a network of over 100 oases in land and marine protected areas<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>

These areas are conservation priority areas at a national and global level.<\/span><\/p>

Furthermore, “Oasi in Citt\u00e0<\/em>” is one of these<\/strong> areas. <\/span><\/p>

This park<\/strong> is an important<\/strong> step in preserving the environment and the species that live in it. <\/span><\/p>

It serves as a reminder for everyone to aid in conservation efforts<\/strong> so the habitats and the species in them can thrive.<\/span><\/p>
