A Short Walk from the Heart of Sorrento

This past Tuesday I went to a market that is held every week in a big parking lot on Via San Renato, Sorrento. This is about a 15 minute walk from Piazza Tasso

Most of the sellers at this market were selling clothes but there were also some selling home goods, accessories, and food

A Colorful Blend of Clothing, Crafts & More

At first, it was a little overwhelming with how many people there were selling relatively inexpensive clothing, but that also gave me a reason to walk through the whole market multiple times, each time seeing something new I hadn’t noticed before.

There are so many clothes being sold, if you take the time to look through everything you’re bound to find something you like!

Some of the things besides clothing being sold were purses, shoes, sheets, curtains, table runners, cookware, and more.

The market was very colorful because alongside a variety of colorful clothing, people were selling Easter decorations: there were a lot of brightly colored fake flowers, chicks, and eggs.

There were also actual flowers being sold as there was a seller with a beautiful variety of flowers and plants for sale.

Shopping here was sort of a breath of fresh air as it was an entirely different feeling than the super touristy areas of Sorrento shopping

A Crafter’s Paradise

There was a vendor dedicated to selling all of the odds and ends you would need for sewing, crocheting, and doing various craft projects.

This was one of the places I spent the most time at, admiring the yarn and all of the fun ribbon designs.

If I had come here earlier in the semester I would have bought a crochet hook and some yarn from this seller;

I left mine at home in the US as I thought I wouldn’t need it, but I have missed being able to crochet.

However, now that I am leaving Sorrento in just a few weeks, it doesn’t feel worth it to make purchases of things I already have at home.

I ended up just purchasing broccoli and potatoes because I had been planning on buying them at some point that day anyways;

however, it was an enjoyable experience just walking around and looking through all that was being sold despite not buying anything particularly special.

Why You Should Visit

I would recommend visiting this market if you’re looking for some fairly inexpensive clothing and other items and if you enjoy the experience of looking through a lot of things to find the treasure of what you will take home with you.

Ciao,
