Sorrento: Capital of Made in Italy
An exclusive exhibition is set to illuminate Villa Fiorentino, featuring the showcase “In the Sign of Tradition: The Goldsmith Art of Gerardo Sacco“.
As part of a series of events titled “Portraits of Made in Italy: Art and Culture for Export“, the exhibition is scheduled from April 13th to Sunday, May 26th, 2024.
Indeed, this year will see Sorrento emerge as the capital of Made in Italy, thanks to the joint efforts of the Fondazione Sorrento and the Municipality, which have created a series of events and exhibitions to celebrate Italian excellence.
“Portraits of Made in Italy“, therefore, opens with an extraordinary exhibition dedicated to the goldsmith art of Gerardo Sacco, considered an undisputed master of the field.
His creations draw inspiration from the traditions and history of his native city, Crotone.
Among his prestigious international collaborations, we cannot forget those with Franco Zeffirelli and the immortal Hollywood diva Liz Taylor.
Italian excellences on display
Alongside Gerardo Sacco, throughout 2024 and until April 2025, other world-famous Italian artistic sectors such as E. Marinella, Ascione Coralli, and the Sorrento Marquetry will take center stage.
All exhibitions will be curated by Filomena Maria “Mimma” Sardella, an expert art historian.
Not only a celebration of art but also of the territory, with Sorrento emerging as a gem in the global tourism landscape thanks to its rich landscape and artistic heritage.
Mayor Massimo Coppola reveals the city’s pride in representing Italian style to the world.
Fondazione Sorrento aims to bring Italian prestige and style to an international audience through this series of exhibitions culminating in 2025.
