On Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., the non-profit cultural association “Piacere, Sorrento” presents “Ars Fuoro“, at Masseria Sorrentino, in Via San Nicola, 35 in Sorrento.

After the great success of the outdoor photo exhibition “Sophia Loren – from Marina Grande to the World” in the characteristic Vico II Fuoro, a new idea has been born!

The cultural association “Piacere, Sorrentois pleased to present an innovative cultural and artistic project.

This project, in fact, will involve an entire area of the ancient historical center of Sorrento: ARS FUORO.

Ars Fuoro is an authentic journey to discover the true essence of the historical center of Sorrento between traditions, art, culture and sustainability.

The event will take place along Via Fuoro, Vico II Fuoro, Vico III Fuoro and Via San Nicola.

This project “transforms” these streets into an outdoor museum where local art and tradition will come together in a unique display.

In fact, the walls of this area will be decorated with artistic expressions of the Sorrento area.

Photos, paintings and handicrafts will create a spot dedicated to the culture and history of Sorrento.

In addition to the photo exhibition dedicated to Sophia Loren – by photographer Raffaele Celentano – will be also:

the project “About Sorrento, on Via San Nicola, with photos from the 2024 calendar on the theme “Life in the Sorrento Peninsula“.
a collective of local painters, with the talent of Paola Cetani, Daniela Aprea, Juliana Moura, Maria Rossella Cetani and Anna Esposito, who exhibit their paintings in Vico III Fuoro;
– the artisans of Via San Nicola.

Therefore, Ars Fuoro is not only an artistic exhibition, but also a rediscovery of local traditions.

It will be easy to meet local people and artisans, guardians of Sorrento’s history and traditions, ready to tell and share their experiences, enriching the event with first-hand accounts.

The works will be on display every day, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in local art and culture at any time of day.

The Ars Fuoro project represents a sustainable alternative by promoting a more authentic way of experiencing tourism and discovering Sorrento.

The project aims at preserving and reopening historical shops, fostering unity among local operators and artisans, promoting testimonies of history and territorial identity in an area still immune to excessive tourism.

“Piacere, Sorrento” invites everyone to participate in this extraordinary celebration of art and tradition, to rediscover and enhance together the authentic heart of Sorrento.
