As the days become hotter, it becomes time for me to leave Sorrento.
Visiting Italy has always been my greatest dream, but living in Sorrento has felt like more than that.
It has felt like a comfortable peace that fills the air and excites everyone.
This excitement carries over to the rest of Italy as exploring it has been a great achievement.
Exploring the stone Roman buildings and the ruins of Pompeii was eye-opening.
The old buildings and frescos told a story about the people that used to live there.
But walking around in Oasis in the City, the greenest place in Sant’Agnello, was the best experience.
The peace living in the park has carried me through this last week.
However, homesickness has followed me through my days.
It tries to sicken my mood and make me unhappy. But Sorrento’s beauty and kind people have scared it away more than once.
The experience reminds me that having an adventure is about change and growth.
What a person does with this change and progress is the important part.
Despite feeling homesick, I have created a community with others in the program and within my internship.
These people have made my time within Sorrento a worthwhile experience.
Seeing other people’s abilities and passions motivates me to get the career I want.
Thank you to the About Sorrento staff for inspiring me and teaching me about writing and cultural differences!
Working alongside this staff has been a joy and I have loved every second of writing!
The excitement of going home fills me with joy as I miss my friends and family.
But it also brings tears to my eyes as I will not be in this beautiful place or with these lovely people.
However, I will return one day and see this beautiful town in Italy again.
Arrivederci!
